5 months! How is that possible? It seems like just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital at the beginning of the pandemic. There were so many unknowns, but we have enjoyed Hunter’s bright light that has shined through it all.
Hunter is 16 lbs 2 oz and is 25-1/4″ tall. We don’t have a check up this month (Hooray!) so we’ll get to spend the day playing!
Hunter is a super happy baby that loves to give lots of smiles and giggles. He also loves to give slobbery kisses and grab hold of your hair to keep you close. He has mastered sitting and loves to play on his own with his trucks and his full box of toys. He has two full teeth and at least two more on the way so we aren’t getting a lot of sleep. He loves to jump, stand in his new walker and stand alongside the couch. Hunter loves bath time and splashing around in the water, but he is so strong I need extra help when it comes to washing his hair. Speaking of hair, Hunter had his first trim at home so he looks even more like a miniature Daddy. Hunter loves to play peek-a-boo and sing songs with Mommy and his sisters. He loves playing with the princesses, cars and Legos with his sisters and Gigi. Now that sports are back on, he loves watching the Royals and he can’t wait for football to start! He loves going on walks with our new puppy Bourbon and getting big ole puppy kisses. One of his new favorite activities is playing in his ball pit, he could stay and play with his balls for hours (and he has also learned how to grab for his own too – not something we had to deal with before with our girls). He loves to squawk like a pterodactyl and thinks he is hilarious. We are so lucky to have this sweet and happy boy in our lives!
All Smiles and Giggles
We have such a happy baby boy. He starts the day off with a smile for everyone and ends with one as well. The girls love making him giggle and can get some really good belly laughs out of him. It’s good to see he already has a sense of humor because he is really going to need it with our circus!
Mr. Independent
Hunter loves to play and he has recently loved to keep himself entertained. He loves to jump in his jumpers, play in his ball pit and sit and discover all his toys and get them out himself. He also has developed a love for trucks! We were at a garage sale this past week because the girls had some earned money to spend and I walked by a bag of little Tonka trucks and he made a little sound and started kicking his legs. I walked by again and he got more excited and then when we picked up the bag, he squealed. He has been playing with them ever since!
Sitting Up
Hunter has mastered sitting up this month and he loves his newfound independence. The girls love cheering him on as he masters his new task. Now he will sit on his own and discover toys in his toy box or just watch the chaos that is constantly surrounding him. He still wobbles every once in awhile but his tummy muscles are super strong and he is able to get himself back up to sitting sometimes.
Standing Tall
Our kids have never liked to sit still and Hunter is no exception. If he could choose between sitting and standing, it would be standing every time. He has always loved standing on our lap and in his jumpers and walker, but he kept trying to lift up on our couch the other day so I thought I would let him try. You would have thought he had won the big game with the smile he had on his face. He grabbed the couch with both hands and stayed up for at least 5 minutes before he giggled himself down. Now it’s all he wants to do, except he gets braver every time and tries to move a hand away or turn. He doesn’t have the full strength to stand without an aid, but it won’t be long.
First Haircut
Over the last few weeks, Hunter’s hair has gotten so long. It wouldn’t stand up anymore and there were random long pieces all over. Brian was in need of a new fade and the girls were definitely in need, so we decided to go for it. After several YouTube tutorials and with an extra set of hands (thanks Grandma!) we lined everyone up and got to work. Bailey was first and she sat so still, like a pro. We cut about 6 or more inches off but she was game and when we finished she looked so much older! Sienna was next and thanks to her self-cut, she didn’t have much to trim, but we cleaned it up and she was happy to be a big girl too. Then we went for Hunter. I was pretty nervous because I wasn’t sure how he would do, but with Dad holding him on the stool and Grandma holding his head, we managed to cut at least an inch off. He looks like such a little dude right now and we cleaned up the sides (the most nerve wracking part!) so he is stylin’!

Teething
Teething sucks and these last few days have not been fun. We can see the top starting to poke through and the gums next to his bottom two teeth are really swollen. He is typically a happy baby, but man these teeth are hard on him. And his sleep schedule…which means Mom hasn’t had a lot of sleep these past few days. Oh and watch out for those two front teeth, they have sliced Mom and Dad’s fingers already…super sharp!
Meet Bourbon
The day after Hunter’s 3 month post, we had to say goodbye to our sweet Tequila. It was definitely hard on all of us, especially the girls. We had no intention of getting a new pup anytime soon, but after a dream I had with Tequila and one view of Wayside Waif’s website, we welcomed Bourbon Schorr to our family. He is 6 months old and is a Vizslador, a Vizsla and Yellow Lab mix. He is absolutely amazing with the kids and has fit into our lives like a missing piece.
Daddy’s Mini
There is no doubt that Hunter is Daddy’s Mini. Not only in looks, but also in demeanor. They ae both super laid back and happy guys. We are so lucky to have them both to cheer us up and make us laugh everyday.
Sister Time
Hunter loves his sisters, the chaos, all of it. He will sit on the floor and play with them and loves to watch them as they dance and run around. They are both really good with him and love to show off their outfits or ninja skills. He just laughs and laughs and wants to grab hold of their hair to bring them close…luckily he is still pretty gentle, but they will learn not to get too in his face soon!
Outdoor Fun
We had some beautiful weather this past week which was a nice break from the summer heat. We spent most of the week outside playing with Bourbon at a few different parks and going on lots of walks. We have enjoyed a lot of swimming, swinging and mushroom hunts and look forward to more fall weather setting in for the long haul.
Grandma & Grandpa Schorr Visit
One of the hardest things about this pandemic is not seeing our loved ones. Hunter got to meet his Grandma & Grandpa Schorr and Granny for the first time this month. The girls loved spending time with them and we wish we would have gotten a chance to spend more time with them, but we will take what we can get. I just wish I would have gotten more photos.
Sleepy Baby
Sleep has been few and far between for us this month. I blame the teething during the evening and his FOMO during the day. There is always so much going on in the house it’s no wonder he can’t relax, well unless Grandma or Daddy is home and then he will snuggle up and sleep with no problem. I did get a few snuggles in and soaked them up!
