When the sky is grey, hope just hides away. I’ll be your sunflower when you can’t stand up. I’ll be your Sunflower. – The Weepies
It’s been a hectic few weeks – between work, school, play dates, sickness, a scary fall resulting in an ER visit for Sienna, ringworm (yes, ringworm) and the everyday hustle and bustle, we’ve barely gotten a chance to slow down and just breathe. Last night we decided to take a break for a bit and get the girls out to enjoy a piece of the natural beauty that Kansas has to offer – the Grinter Farms Sunflowers!
The sunflowers are smaller this year thanks to the wacky weather we’ve had this summer, but they are still breathtaking. I couldn’t help but relate to this year’s crop – imperfect, weathered and struggling a bit through a tough season but blessed to be surrounded by other fighters trying to shine their light and beauty on others around them. So shine on sunflowers through the rain and storms this year is throwing your way!
We found a cool fuzzy caterpillar that entertained the girls for awhile!

Sienna wasn’t always excited to take photos
My rock through the storms and my light at the end of the tunnel – love you boo!
This is Sienna’s “over it face”
Thank you Grinter Farms and Farmer Ted for continuing to share your beautiful sunflowers with us!
