Main Room Makeover – Final Reveal

Posted on 3 m read

As I type this with my boot propped up on the couch, I still can’t believe I’m writing this…our Main Room Makeover is finished! We’ve had a bunch of obstacles to overcome but we did it, and in only a few short months. It seems like only yesterday I was envisioning the space, and now it’s our reality. I couldn’t be happier with the results!

Before we share the final pictures, let’s take a look at what we started with:

We had a huge front room that we never utilized and a three bedroom home. Now we have a four bedroom home with a complete open concept and a lot more light. See for yourself:

All About the Details

Besides seeing my vision come to life, my favorite part of the project was piecing together all the details. I spent a lot of time researching, searching marketplace and Craigslist and hunting through antique stores looking for the pieces to complete our new dining room. Thank you to my husband and my family for putting up with my craziness and helping me piece everything together! Here are a few of my favorites:

Behind the Scenes

There was a ton of work that went into this project and I couldn’t have done it without my amazing husband, my unbelievably patient and helpful parents, my hardworking brother and two little girls that are really excited about remodeling. We accomplished a lot that we had never done before – from refinishing furniture to adding a light fixture and switch, I am very proud of the work and thankful for all the help – especially in these last few weeks while I’ve been out of commission.

Before and After

I love looking back at how far we’ve come and nothing shows it better than a few Before and After photos. Here are some of our favorites:

We still need to finish up some work in the kitchen, but we aren’t in a major rush right now. We’re just counting down the days until Baby Boy Schorr joins us but if he can wait a little longer so my ankle heals a bit more, that would be for the best. We had to see a specialist and I am confined to the boot 100% of the time and we have a follow up visit next week to see if we need more x-rays or an MRI.

It’s still really painful and I am so thankful for my husband for helping me wash my hair since I can’t shower and for getting me in and out of my boot since I can’t reach the bottom straps due to my belly. The girls have been really helpful and my parents have been angels for helping with the girls so I can keep my ankle elevated. We’ll keep you posted on remodel updates or baby updates as we can! But for now, enjoy a few more of my favorite pics:

Baby Boy Schorr Nursery

Posted on 3 m read

2020 has been a bit challenging so far this year. We’ve had a few setbacks but we are learning to take everything one day at a time and stay grateful for all that we have. With my recent tumble down the stairs that led to a pretty bad sprained ankle and an even more recent labor scare, we knew we needed to finish up the nursery and fast.

Not the vision I had in mind for this last month of pregnancy

Before we get to the nursery we have to give a shout out to the Kansas City Chiefs! This year may have not started out the best for us, but the Chiefs have definitely lifted our spirits! We had the best time cheering on the Chiefs to their first Superbowl win in 50 years – I still can’t believe I’m typing that! I am still so in love with this city and our team for such an incredible journey, we’ve probably watched every highlight and interview out there and the excitement still hasn’t died down! We wanted to go to the parade so bad but I didn’t want to become famous for having a baby at the parade alongside a million other Chiefs fans. So we had our own party here at home watching it on TV.

Too much joy for one picture…this was during the crazy firework show going off outside after DW’s touchdown

Back to Baby Boy’s room. Unfortunately I am not much help at the moment since I am supposed to stay off my ankle as much as possible. Fortunately I have an amazing husband and an incredibly helpful family that have jumped in to help. We are still putting the finishing touches together in the dining room, but we wanted to share some pics of Baby Boy Schorr’s nursery.

Welcome to Baby Boy’s room

You may be looking for a crib but we decided to skip it this time. Neither of our girls slept in a crib so we chose to use the Queen mattresses we had in storage and found a cute headboard on Marketplace. So this room is now the nursery / guest bedroom.

I get by with a little help from my friends…thanks to the girls for donating a few of their favorite toys

Of course we can’t forget the closet! We are leaving it open right now because I am still deciding on which closet doors I like the best. It definitely feels a lot more sparse than your sisters’ closets do, but I promise your drawers are full of clothes. And you already have your first Mahomes jersey to welcome you into the Chiefs Kingdom. (You may come out singing “Red Kingdom” from the number of times you’ve heard it these past few weeks).

Baby boy we are ready to meet you, but if you can hold out for a few more weeks, Mama would sure appreciate the extra healing time. I know you are getting cramped in there because I can see the outline of your foot every time you jam it through my ribs, but don’t rush. I already know you’re going to be a night owl like your sisters were, but if you want to give me a break from your all night gymnastics marathon every once in awhile, that would be great. Your sisters are really excited to meet you and teach you all their favorite things – but no rush, we’ve got all the time in the world.
