Hunter Paul – 11 Months Old

Posted on 6 m read

Hope everyone is staying warm and toasty! The polar vortex has definitely given us all a bit of cabin fever and we’ve had to break out the bounce house indoors to wear out some energy. Little man Hunter is 11 months old today and has almost enough energy as his sisters! I can’t believe we’re one month shy of his 1st Birthday – the year has gone by way too fast!

Hunter is 20 lbs 1 oz. and is 28-1/4″ tall. We don’t have a check in this month but will see our favorite pediatrician for his one month appointment soon.

Hunter in his favorite chair

Hunter is always on the move. He has gotten really fast and is almost running now! He thinks he is so funny when he breaks out of his barrier and tears through the rest of the house. He has started showing some restraint with putting things in his mouth and will bring things he finds to you. He is quite the little lover too. Whether he is flirting with the girls at dance or just filling us up with hugs and kisses. He is definitely the sweetest! Hunter loves to play and get into everything. His favorite toys of the moment are his hammers and drum sticks, his ride on pony – Bullseye, his trucks, balls and his new digging toy from Aunt Erin and Uncle Tyler. He enjoys being left on his own to play for awhile before calling out to everyone to be noticed. He can be quite the troublemaker but will give you a little devilish grin that you can’t help but laugh at. He has definitely found his voice and loves to compete with his sisters. He loves to dance with Mommy and will grab the Tula and bring it to me when he wants to dance or be close to me, it really is sweet! His Daddy is still his favorite napping buddy, besides Grandma, and he loves to get into trouble with his puppy brother, Bourbon. We are so blessed to have little Hunter in our lives!

On the Go

Hunter is always on the move. He doesn’t stop until he decides to curl up and pass out on you. He loves to climb, sneak out of his barrier and walk so fast he’s almost running. I feel like we’ll be running to catch up with him for the rest of his life, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Smiley Guy

Hunter’s smiles light up the room. He knows just when to turn them on to make our day, or get himself out of trouble. He’s a bit of a flirt too and has all the girls smiling at the girls’ dance competitions.

Play Time

When it comes to playing, Hunter is an expert. He has such a curious nature and is always finding new toys to play with. He loves to build with his sisters and smack things with his hammers – watch out, he’s got quite the arm! He loves trucks and cars, whether he is pushing them or scooting on top of them.  He is also a big fan of ride on toys and loves to climb up onto his little Bullseye and ride. He’s even bucked himself off a few times and had a little black eye from it, so he’s a tough little cookie.  Though his play area is loaded with toys, he still thinks remotes and cell phones are the most fun to play with and to hide from everyone. He’s got skills!

Hunger Games

Hunter loves to eat! He can throw down at the dinner table and loves to try new food. I’m not sure where all the food goes because he’s such a tiny guy, but he enjoys himself! He loves all fruits and veggies and has found a love for pizza and chili too!

Thank You Chiefs

Sunday didn’t end the way we wanted, but we have definitely enjoyed watching our Chiefs get back to the Superbowl. The girls love Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce and can’t wait to watch them again next season!

January Birthdays

January is a big month in our household and this year we celebrate 4 Birthdays! Uncle Mat was up first, then Pop Pop, next up was Bourbon’s 1st Birthday and then we rounded up the month celebrating Daddy. We are so fortunate to have these guys in our life and we had a lot of fun celebrating with yummy food and homemade cakes/pies. I even tried out a drip cake for the first time and it was a success! Hunter loved all the extra fun with Pop Pop and Uncle Mat and even got to meet Uncle Brad through the glass on his stop over from Colorado!

Snow Fun

We’ve had some topsy turvy weather this month and have had more snow and cold days than nice ones.  The girls have loved all the snow time that they have been getting. We’ve built ramps, made snowmen, sledded until they passed out and had lots of snowball fights. Unfortunately the weather is way too cold to enjoy this latest round, but I bet we’ll have some more snow fun soon!

Outside Time

On the few warmer days, we made sure to get out and ride bikes, play hopscotch and play with side walk chalk. The girls love sharing their art and Hunter got a quick crash-course on why you shouldn’t eat the chalk. Bourbon loved the extra outdoor time too!

Sister Love

Hunter is in awe of his sisters. They make him laugh, they give him a lot of love and they actually take time to play with him. They are really good at helping out when I have needed an extra hand and kept him entertained on a few work calls. He has even made it on a few of their school Zoom calls and stolen the spotlight. We love watching the three of them together. We have been very proud of the girls for doing so well in school. I have conferences with their teachers this week, but they have really learned a lot this year and have excelled in the midst of the pandemic. We are so proud of them in everything that they do, especially all the hard work they have put into dance this year!

Bourbon

Bourbon turned 1 years old this past month and let’s just say he has been quite a handful! He loves to jump our fence to go play with his best friend Reggie and new puppy friend Henry. He can clear our chain link fence and we had previously gotten him a PetSafe shock collar that is supposed to keep him within a certain radius of our house. Unfortunately he has decided the shock is worth a trip over to see his buddies. He can leap over the fence without a problem so Brian decided to add some of our old temporary fencing to the top, bringing the fence up to at least 5 feet tall. Surely that would keep him in our yard! Wrong! I came back from a quick trip to the office and Grandma saw him playing in the neighbor’s yard. When she called him she saw him completely leap the entire fence…no running start or help needed. So we bought him a chain to keep him in the yard thinking that wouldn’t be the best, but something. Turns out, the first 5 minutes of him on the chain and he chewed through his collar. Awesome! So now we are on the hunt for another solution and are taking every suggestion possible. Good thing he is a sweetheart and great with the kids…we should be entering him into a high jump or dock dog competition this spring!

Snuggles

Hunter is a little snuggle monster and loves to curl up and fall asleep on everyone that isn’t me! Luckily I get my own form of snuggles when he reaches for me to dance with him or put him in the Tula so we can be close. Every once in awhile I catch a sleepy Hunter for a nap and soak up all the sweet snuggles!

What a crazy whirlwind these past 11 months have been. We are so lucky to have each other and can’t wait to see what this next month will bring!
