Happy Birthday Bailey Jayne – 4 Years Old

Posted on 2 m read

When you were born, you changed our whole world around. The little things meant so much more when we got to share them with you. You helped us slow down and enjoy the moment.

Watching you grow into the sweet, kind-hearted and beautiful girl we love to laugh with is our greatest joy. You have tackled so many obstacles this year – from starting school, helping around the house and being the best big sister ever. We are so proud of you.

We love to watch your creativity blossom. You are a storyteller when you play and we could watch your puppet shows for hours. Your drawing skills have improved so much and we love to see your creations you make from Play Doh. We can’t wait to see where your artistic side takes you.

As a Taurus, you are as stubborn as your Mama. You know what you want and your negotiation skills impress. But when push comes to shove, we trust that you know the right thing to do. Keep your head high and stand your ground. We are awed by your courage and kindness.

Watching your face light up as you dance, makes us smile. You have worked so hard and pushed yourself through the frustrations when you miss a step. I hope you continue to dance with joy in your heart. Keep smiling baby girl.

We are so proud to be your parents and cannot wait to see the mountains you move. Happy Birthday baby girl, we love you so much!

We are celebrating the Birthday girl at the beach this weekend and will have lots of fun photos of our trip when we get back. We did get a few pics of our cuties together and they even looked at the same time a handful of times. We love you girls!

To Sienna with Love, on your 2nd Birthday

Posted on 2 m read

You’re a heart-stopper. From the moment I could feel you kick, I knew you’d never slow down. There is nothing that will stop you and you never take “no” for an answer. You’ve challenged me more than I ever thought possible, yet taught me a strength I never knew. Your will and tenacity is something fierce and unexpected in someone so small. You are tiny, but mighty, don’t let your size deter you.

From the tumbles to the triumphs, you keep us on our toes. I know you’ll do great things in this world. Your courage and determination combined with your soft heart and sweet spirit will lead you through life graciously. Continue to stretch boundaries but pay heed. The rules we set are to help you grow, my child, not to prevent you.

We love your zest for life, your grit, your ability to charm anyone in your path. We love your giggles, your silliness, the way you cup our face to make sure we’re okay. We love your sense of adventure, your creativity and your will to make things happen. You’re growing up too fast, little one, take your time.

The energy you muster on such little sleep astounds us. Your sassy stance, full hands on hips and chin lifted high, assures us. The arm around someone in need warms us. For all the sour, there is so much sweet. Pick your battles princess, but know we have faith you will win.

You are on your own schedule – you walked early, talked early, potty trained yourself early. You don’t look before you leap or take caution of what you swallow. There have been a few scares but far more triumphs. Keep reaching for your goal, we’ll always be here to catch you.

Happy Birthday my sweet Sienna Rose. May this year bring the biggest adventures, the greatest love and more joy than you can contain. We love you from the crazy mass of hair to the tiniest tips of your toes. Enjoy your twos and leave the terrible behind. We love you baby girl, forever and always.

A Touch of Magic (House)

Posted on 4 m read

When Influenza B and the stomach flu consume your home in less than a week, getting out of the house once everything clears is a must. Luckily for us we had a weekend getaway at the Magic House planned with Grandma and Grandpa Schorr in St. Louis.

We stop in St. Louis every year on the way to Mayfield for Christmas but we’ve never stopped in for a weekend. There is so much to do for for families, a weekend is never enough time. We chose two of the top destinations – the St. Louis Zoo and the Magic House.

St. Louis Zoo

The zoo was even better than advertised. The layout and the free exhibits are great and we only made it through half. The girls were obsessed with the Hippo Landing and the Monsanto Insectarium. They loved watching the hippos glide by gracefully and getting grossed out by all the bugs. Bailey was really into the Butterfly section and had several papillon friends.

We could have easily spent an entire day there and we look forward to going back. But it was a long car ride and we had a couple of tired girls. We’re thankful for the fun (and funny) memories we came away with and the pictures we tried to take.

Making a Splash

If there is a body of water, not matter how big or small, our girls are going in. We made several splashes at the zoo and the first thing we did when we got to the hotel was throw on our suits and hit up the salt water pool.

It was on the chilly side so Sienna didn’t stay in long but it didn’t stop Dad and Bailey from trying to out-splash each other. If we’re judging by amount of water flung across the room, Dad would be the winner. Based on flair – we would have to give the trophy to Bailey.

Sienna and I stayed to watch the competition for awhile but then went back to warm up. Don’t worry, we had our own excitement. We learned Sienna could open a hotel door and run down the hallway towards the lobby naked before Mom could get the tub stopper in. (We made quite the first impression).

The Magic House

After an exciting night of jumping on the hotel beds and an entertaining dinner out, we tried to wrangle the girls to bed. It took awhile but when they finally crashed they were out and we were able to get a little sleep.

The next morning, we headed out to meet Grandma Schorr and Pop Pop Ray Ray at the Magic House. We were early (for the first time ever) so we stopped at the farmer’s market in Kirkwood and the girls loved meeting new puppies, sampling fresh produce and smelling every flower at the market. It was a perfect stop for us.

Then it was time to explore the Magic House. If you haven’t been and you have children, it is a must do. It as everything a child could want to do, explore or play with – and we had just as much fun as the kids. There was sand, magnets, climbing areas, art supplies, sand, sushi play restaurants, dirt and rocks, sand…did I mention sand?

There was so much to do and even though we were there for 5 hours, we could have stayed and played even longer. We got some fun pics but spent most of our time exploring and playing with the girls.

Both girls had so much fun, especially because Grandma Schorr and Pop Pop Ray Ray were there to play with us! We will definitely be back for more playtime the next time we are in the STL.

The Adventure Continues

We left the Magic House and went to downtown Kirkwood for a sweet treat and a little more play. Bailey got Cotton Candy the size of her while Sienna slept on my back, then woke up in time to play at a nearby park with some new friends. We finished up the adventure with some early birthday presents for both girls and some dinner.

It was so nice spending time as a family and getting to visit with Grandma Schorr and Pop Pop Ray Ray. The girls have been asking about the next visit since we piled in the car to come home.

Saying goodbye to Grandma

Hopefully it won’t be too long between our next visit, but we can look back on a great weekend. We’re getting ready for both girls’ Birthdays, a dance competition and our big trip to Disney and the beach in the next few weeks. We’ll share more photos soon!
