Back to School: Bailey’s in Pre-K 2019

Posted on 4 m read

I have seriously been slacking in the blog department. The last two months have been a complete whirlwind of the plague hitting our house with 3 down with pneumonia and 1 with croup. Luckily, we are all back on the mend so I wanted to get back to writing. This month Bailey went back to school and started Pre-K!

First Day of Pre-K

After being sick and stuck inside the house for a couple weeks, Bailey couldn’t wait to get back and see all her friends. We learned this summer that she would be in the same class with everyone from last year, but her teacher Miss Courtney would be moving to a new school. Bailey was a little bummed at first because she would miss her “best teacher ever” but then we learned at her mom, Ms. Kristi would be teaching her this year!

Sneak-A-Peek

This year’s Sneak-A-Peek was the night before her first day back. She was so excited to see her classmates and meet her new teacher she got ready at lunch and asked if it was time to go at least every hour.

We met Dad out front and walked in. She was in the same classroom but the room had been updated and she dove right in to play time. Sienna had no problem finding her way through all of the toys and saying hi to all Bailey’s friends. We met Ms. Kristi along with Ms. Tammy and Ms. Heather who would be helping in the classroom.

With Ms. Kristi

Bailey saw her bestie Juna, her boyfriend Elijah and when she noticed another one of her friends was having a hard time, she went over to hug and comfort her. Then she busted out some glue, markers and paper and went to work making her a card to feel better. It was so sweet and made Mama and Daddy proud!

It was hard tearing the girls away from their friends, but Bailey was excited to show Sienna the rest of her school. She loves the big Clifford painting and had to snag a pic.

First Day of Pre-K

Bailey woke up the next day already for her first day of school. She put on her favorite dress, slipped on her shoes and even brushed her hair. The only problem…school was still 4 hours away. This year she will go in the afternoons which has been a little bit of an adjustment to our schedule. But I had to applaud her effort. Even if it was 7:00 am. We did get to take a few pics since she was already dressed and of course Sienna had to join in.

The morning zoomed by and before we knew it, it was time to meet Dad at school. As we were walking in, she saw her best friend Juna and completely dropped us to walk in hand-in-hand with her. We still followed her in to say good bye, but she was definitely ready for us to leave.

And it wouldn’t be the first day of school without a little drama…I had to run to the Urgent Care because I was feeling worse so Dad stayed with Sienna and I was put on my third different antibiotic and got another shot. Last year, it was Bubba and he got ring worm, so I can’t wait to see what next year will bring.

Back to School Fashion

Of course, back to school gives us another excuse to show off our fashion sense. This year we are still into dresses, but they have to be beautiful dresses paired with beautiful shoes. Cute and cool will not work – she told us she needs to look “beautiful for Elijah”. Oh lordy, we’re in trouble.

We did almost have a fashion emergency this week. As I mentioned before, we’re still figuring out a routine with her afternoon school schedule. I decided to get out and check out the new Olathe Lake Park on a beautiful morning. It was beautiful with a waterfall, creek, sand and splash areas right by the lake. The girls were having so much fun playing with new friends, we was a snake (eek!) and just enjoying the outdoors. I looked down at my phone and realized we had about 20 minutes before she needed to be at school…whoops! Both girls were completely soaked and covered in mud so we rushed to the car to grab the spare set of clothes out of her backpack…except they weren’t there. #momfail

We didn’t have enough time to run home and back to school so I had Bailey strip down and we drove to a second hand shop near the school. I put a soaking wet Sienna on my back and had to figure out how to cover Bailey. Luckily we had an old swaddle blanket in the car, so I fashioned a toga so we could run inside. She told me she looked ridiculous, but hey, at least she was covered. We found a dress and got her to school in the nick of time. I was so proud of my quick thinking until we were almost home and I noticed the snacks for class still in my front seat. Back to school for us and I definitely looked and acted the part of the hot mess mom that day. But we laughed and had a lot of fun, so I say #momwin.

Pick Up Line Style

Not to be outdone in the fashion department, little sis is always ready to strut her stuff as we pick up Bailey from school. We usually go through a few outfit changes before we leave, but she definitely has her own style…paired with a lot of sass.

We can’t wait to see what this year will bring for our sweet girl. Oh, the places you will go!
