Hunter is 1 year old today! He was born the day the world started shutting down and the lockdowns began. We were all scared of what the future would hold but we knew we would do anything to protect our little baby boy and his sisters. It has been a year of uncertainty and loss, but we are thankful the amazing gift we were given. The gift of time spent together watching our babies grow. It hasn’t been easy and there have been many meltdowns, but it has been all worth it. Hunter has completed our family in a way I never imagined. We love you baby boy!
Hunter is 20 lbs. 6 oz. and 28-1/2” tall. He has his 1 year appointment tomorrow so I’m anticipating a lot of extra snuggles after his shots.
Our little man is quite the charmer. He has smiles for days and loves to flirt with everyone at the park. He is non-stop and has started running. He loves to figure out new ways to escape and get into things he shouldn’t so we are constantly on our toes. Hunter loves to play, dance and laugh with his sisters. He loves to ride on his cars and go on bike rides. He loves to help with laundry and pulling things out of baskets and hiding things around the house. He feels like a big kid at the park and runs around and goes down the slide by himself. He is also starting to get a little attitude and has been known to try and bite or pull hair if he doesn’t get his way. He is also popping 4 new molars and his poor little gums are purple and swollen. Luckily he is typically in a great mood. He loves to dance and do Zumba with Mom and go on walks with Bourbon. He is a great eater and expects you to share everything with him. He brings me the Tula when he wants to get up on my back. He is also expanding his vocabulary past Mama and Dada to yeah and up. He is quite the babbler and talker so I am sure he will not have any problems making himself heard. He is such a blessing and we love him so much!
Cake Smash
We took advantage of our first beautiful day after the crazy winter weather to do a cake smash for Hunter. The cake ended up more like a giant football shaped cake pop, but he loved it and so did the girls.
Hunter Smiles
Hunter meltdown in 5 parts
Hunter is just about the happiest little guy we know. He is always smiling and giggling (or pterodactyl screeching with delight. He is getting all 4 of his molars right now so he has had a few moments, but overall he is a smiley guy. His smile definitely makes me melt!
We’ve Got a Runner
Hunter has gone from boy on the move to a really fast boy on the move. He pretty much runs around all day long and trying to break free. He is really fast too so you always have to be on your toes. He is definitely trying to keep up with his sisters and making Mom nervous as he likes to cut a little too close to corners. We’ve had a few tumbles, fat lips and goose eggs already. I’ve had to amp up my work outs to keep up with him!
Play Time
Hunt loves to play! In fact, he would rather play than sleep right now which has been especially hard for Mom and Dad while we are in the process of Marie Kondo-ing our entire house. LEGOs, blocks, cars and his dancing sloth are his favorite toys right now. He also loves to try and get into whatever his sisters are doing.
My Sweet Valentine
Hunter’s first Valentine’s Day was definitely a cold one but we enjoyed a delicious breakfast from a new breakfast place up the street and the kids got to go have dinner with Grandma and Grandpa while we got a few hours of kid free time. Everyone had a little too much candy, but it was a sweet day with our favorites.
Big Eater
This boy can eat! He wants to try anything and everything he can get his hands on, whether it’s edible or not. He loves pizza, tacos, graham crackers, fruit, crayons, colored pencils and eggs. He thinks he is such a big kid and is always a ham at the table.
Polar Vortex
This month has seen temperatures in the 70s and in the -10s. We had a really long stretch of super cold weather that made getting out in the snow hard, but as soon as it warmed up to a bearable degree everyone bundled up for some outdoor fun!
Outdoor Fun
With the temps feeling more and more like spring, we have tried to spend as much time outdoors as possible. We even ran into one of Sienna’s zoom classmates at one of our favorite parks and they became instant besties! We’ve even met up for a park date to play and Sienna couldn’t be more excited to have a bestie her age. Hunter loves getting outside with his big sisters and swing, slide, run around the park and get into sand – he’s even had a few mouthfuls, but it hasn’t slowed him down!
Sisters
Hunter has his hands full with his sisters. He is always being pulled (sometimes literally) in several directions and trying to keep up with them. They are usually pretty good with him. One of the highlights of his morning is Bailey’s connection part of her morning Zoom. As soon as he hears Ms. Ally say “Connection”, he goes running to the gate with his arms up so Bailey can grab him and do her connection song together. He also loves to play LEGOs with Sienna and knocking over all her towers. Luckily she thinks it’s funny sometimes.
Bourbon
Bourbon is still a handful but I think we have managed to keep him inside our yard. He’s not too happy about his chain, but it’s better than him getting over the fence. Hunter and Bourbon are quite the pair. They like to tag team and make messes, eat things they aren’t supposed to and tackle me all at once. Bourbon really loved the snow, but not the boots and vest we made him wear when it was dangerously cold outside.
Snuggles
Snuggles are still too few and far between but I will take them when I can get them. I love how he wants to be close to me in the Tula at all times, even when we do Zumba together. The molars have been a little tough on the poor guy so hopefully they will pop all the way through and we can get a decent night of sleep – oh wait, that never happens!
It has been a crazy year but also one of the best ones because we had so much time together and Hunter joined our family. We love him so much and can’t wait to celebrate him!
